The role of the Field Health Safety and Environmental Advisor is to identify trends/themes to proactively monitor risk levels before they rise above acceptable levels.

Advise the Client on all issues related to Health, Safety, and the Environment in accordance with local and regional legislation.

Create awareness among the workforce and management of the Health, Safety and Environmental policy, applicable legislation, and standards.

Empowered to create a health and safety cultural mindset to deliver the highest standard of industry best practices for the lifecycle of the project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promoting a safety culture in accordance with industry best practices in the workplace
  • Monitor daily site tasks and provide advice on risks controls
  • Perform Hazard Identification Risk Assessments
  • Ensure compliance with all company procedures, and regulatory and legislative requirements for Health, Safety and Environment
  • Deliver Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental inductions to new start employees and subcontractors as required
  • Coach site personnel in hazard identification and mitigation controls
  • Manage Contractor and Subcontractor safety compliance
  • Perform compliance audits on the permit to work application
  • Participate in Incidents, Accidents and Near Misses Investigations and recommend appropriate corrective actions to avoid a recurrence
  • Produce Daily, Weekly and Monthly reports
  • Maintain the Health and Safety Action tracking register
  • Positively influence and improve Health and Safety outcomes
About You
To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess a combination of work experience, skills and or qualifications in the following areas:
  • Proficient in the English Language (Spoken and Written)
  • Good computer skills
  • Experience in Oil Refinery Construction/Operation
  • Hold an accredited Health safety qualification NEBOSH or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years as a Health, Safety and Environmental practitioner
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships internally as well as externally
  • Experience in Auditing
  • First Aid Trained/Certified
